From underground clubs to festival stages, "AURA" captures a decade of raw energy, emotion and late-night techno
Amelie Lens has released her debut album, "AURA", via her own EXHALE label.
The 11-track record stays close to the Belgian artist’s sound, mixing high-energy techno with acid and hard techno influences. It features recent singles whatever you do, our frequency and run, her collaboration with Belgian singer Angèle, who is the only featured artist on the album.
For Lens, "AURA" is more than just a first album. It reflects the different stages of her career, from playing small local clubs and driving through the night for gigs to performing on major festival stages, while building EXHALE and becoming a mother.
"I wanted "AURA" to feel emotional but still powerful, uplifting but raw", Lens explains. The album moves between big festival tracks and more trippy, late-night cuts inspired by the kind of music she would play at 4am in clubs such as Berlin’s RSO.
To mark the release, Lens played a special show in Antwerp in front of the KMSKA museum on September 5, performing for a crowd of 14,000 people. She will continue the album rollout with an appearance at Anyma’s UNVRS residency in Ibiza on September 8.
