Angelo Adinolfi: "I like finding the balance between nostalgia and innovation"

Angelo Adinolfi is an artist who transforms passion into music, blending energy and emotion into every track and DJ set. His roots are deeply embedded in the late ’80s and early to mid ’90s European techno and progressive scenes, influences that are clearly reflected in his current productions. Each sound captures his state of mind and personal experience, creating an authentic and immersive musical journey.

Your new EP “I Wanna Go Back” on Noïmusica radiates a strong energy and an evident connection to the sounds of the '80s and '90s. Can you tell us what inspired you during the creation of this work and what message you want to convey through these tracks?

I was messing around with some new sounds in my studio when I finally had a baseline that remembers me a track released in 2004 called housewife’s by Daan a Belgian artiest.

So I start to build op a track around this baseline and I had a feeling that I was travelling between the past and the present.

The message in this track is that it’s perfectly possible to combine the past and present.

The personal message is that I really wished I could go back and I don’t had to make the wrong decisions and the mistakes I did,  but i guess also that it makes me the person that I am today.

Let’s talk about the Associati project, the duo you’ve formed: what makes this collaboration special, and how do you balance your musical influences to create a unique sound?

This project together with Gemini aka BART Michiels started 3 years ago we had to play at the same club were we took over the decks from each other, we started conversation and after a week we where in the studio and we soon noticed that we are on the same frequencie about music, so we decided to put our heads together and form a dj duo.

Our prioritie is to bring groove in our sets combining indie dance en melodic house. We already released a few tracks on our own and have  new ones coming soon. We really enjoy playing together and the crowd can notice.

We played on festival such as, Intens, Beauville, techno onder vrienden, festival onder vrienden, Storytellers, hypodream and more.

You recently collaborated with Adrienn Molnar. What impressed you the most about her style, and how did her contribution influence the final result of your work together?

Adrienn, is one of the best musicians and producers  that I know, she have that gift to create stunning Melodie’s on the piano and make wonderful tracks of it. A time ago I made a bootleg with one of her tracks and I tagged her in a story on insta and started to chat.

One day she send me a new track she made, I was blown away and I asked her if I could remix it, she agreed and so we realised "Away with Us". On 14/02 we gonna release our second track together (Anyone Else).

Your music is strongly influenced by the European techno and progressive scene of the '80s and '90s. How do you stay true to those roots while exploring new contemporary sounds?

Maybe it’s coincidence I don’t particularly want to bring 80-90 sounding tracks but it feels good and I like to make such tracks, combining present sounds with the past, is exciting to me and I like the balance of it.

I don’t want to forget the past but I also want to think forward and renew my self and do better on each release, never to old to learn new stuff.

Your music often reflects your mood and personal emotions. Can you tell us about a particular moment in your life that inspired one of your tracks and how you managed to turn it into music?

Don’t give it up tonight is one of my personal favourites, I made this track when I was in a tumultuous and dark period of my life, I couldn’t see a way out of the bad situation I was in, but the the music always helped me through bad times and this track also defines how I am, I don’t give up and it’s never good enough I always try to do better.
