A bold new chapter in the world of music festivals is underway: Dušan Kovačević, founder and CEO of Serbia’s legendary EXIT Festival, is organizing the first-ever multi-day, multi-stage music festival at the iconic Pyramids of Giza — one of the oldest and most mysterious landmarks on earth.

According to IQ Magazine, the brand-new festival is slated for October 2026 and will debut under a new name to reflect the unique spirit of its historic setting. The musical direction is expected to focus heavily on electronic music, a core element of EXIT’s identity since its inception.

The event is being organized in partnership with Egypt-based promoter Venture Lifestyle, known for staging large-scale concerts by artists such as Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, and the Black Eyed Peas. This collaboration marks a significant evolution for EXIT, following its final edition in July 2025 amid mounting pressure from the Serbian government.

This pressure stemmed from student-led anti-corruption protests linked to the tragic collapse of the Novi Sad railway station canopy in November 2024, which resulted in 16 fatalities. EXIT, aligned with the protests, was stripped of all government funding, as Kovačević revealed in a June statement. Despite these challenges, EXIT left a lasting impact on the European festival scene, drawing some 200,000 attendees annually at Petrovaradin Fortress and earning two European festival of the year awards, while hosting EDM superstars such as Tiësto, Martin Garrix, and Eric Prydz.

While Kovačević has left the door open for EXIT to return to Serbia eventually, his current focus is on expanding the brand to one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. The Pyramids of Giza — often seen as beacons of light amid global darkness — will set the stage for a festival embodying everything EXIT stands for, Kovačević told IQ Magazine.

Though this will be the first multi-day, multi-stage festival held at the Pyramids, the site has previously hosted high-profile EDM performances by artists including Carl Cox, Above & Beyond, and Keinemusik. Additionally, DJ Anyma is scheduled to perform there on October 10th.

Official dates for the new festival at Giza have yet to be announced, but the event promises to blend millennia-old history with cutting-edge electronic music in an unprecedented cultural experience.
