Gassan: "Music trends change every day, and I try to stay current"
Today we’re speaking with Gassan, an artist making waves in the electronic music scene through innovative collaborations and hit releases. His latest single, "Si Ai", created with Rvckhimov, is already gaining traction. With tracks like "Don’t Wake Up" and "Galaxy" topping the Indie Dance charts, Gassan has also worked with labels like Exx Muzik and ICONYC. In this interview, we’ll explore how the "Si Ai" collaboration came about, his artistic evolution, and what the future holds, including new releases and an upcoming tour in India.
"Si Ai" is your latest single in collaboration with Rvckhimov. How did this collaboration come about, and what message were you trying to convey with this track?
It was a spontaneous project. One day, my friend Rvckhimov came up with the idea for this remix, and I realized the track had potential. The original track had just been released, so we decided to create a full cover. The vocals were completely re-recorded, and later we began preparing the track for an official release. Today, the original track is one of the most popular on social media. I think we provided both the public and fellow DJs with a great dancefloor version since the original wasn’t designed for DJ sets! We want people to enjoy this track, whether at home, in the car, or on the dancefloor at a club!
You are a resident of renowned labels like Exx Muzik, 3000Grad, and ICONYC. How have these experiences shaped your artistic journey and approach to music production?
Yes, my earlier tracks were released on those labels, and I’m grateful for their support! But music trends change every day, and I try to stay current. Now, I’ll be releasing many new tracks with a fresh sound together with my friend Rvckhimov. I’m also currently collaborating with a talented producer from Kazakhstan, La4and. At the same time, I’ll continue to release music that my long-time listeners enjoy, especially within the Indie Dance genre, where I’ve become a recognizable name. However, I don’t want to limit myself to one style, and I feel that the demand for this genre is also evolving!
Your tracks "Don't Wake Up" and "Galaxy" both reached the top spot on the Beatport Top 100 Hype Indie Dance chart. What do you think is the key to the success of your work in the Indie Dance genre?
Yes, it was an amazing experience and a huge success for me. "Don’t Wake Up" is still played by many artists worldwide, and they often reach out to thank me for the track. I play it a lot myself, and every time I see the incredible reactions on the dancefloor! Both tracks were created quite quickly. The sounds were interesting at the time, and we found a top label that fit the Indie Dance sound. Together with the label, we did a great job!
What is the electronic music scene like in Kazakhstan, and how has it influenced your growth as a DJ and producer?
In fact, it’s only just starting to take off here. International DJs have begun coming to our country. This year, Argy and Mahmut Orhan performed, which is incredible! In recent years, many talented local producers have emerged, creating amazing electronic music in various styles. I believe the world will soon know about many of our artists!
What are your future plans? Are there any upcoming collaborations or new productions you’re currently working on?
The plans are, as always, grandiose! Lots of successful releases and major performances are coming up. I’m currently preparing for a tour in India. There will also be a lot of new music, including Afro House and Melodic Techno releases. Listeners can expect exciting collaborations with Rvckhimov, as well as with my friend, the young talent from my hometown, La4and. Additionally, I’m looking forward to an exciting collaboration with a producer from Turkey, Wavejackers!
