Girls of the Internet - Heavenly Sea (feat. Eva) [House of the Internet]

Girls of the Internet bring a touch of disco warmth to "Heavenly Sea", featuring EVA, released through House of the Internet. Its house foundations and bright keys give the song an inviting character, while the vocal keeps the focus on songwriting. There’s a clear affection for older soul records in the combination of melody, rhythm and feeling.

EVA’s contribution gives that familiar sound a personal voice. Her expressive phrasing and disco-influenced delivery suit a song whose subject reaches beyond romance. Relationship troubles and concerns about the natural world informed the writing, bringing love, loss and environmental uncertainty into the same conversation. That connection gives the title more weight than its dreamy wording initially suggests.

The appeal of "Heavenly Sea" lies in that meeting of an upbeat musical setting and an uneasy subject. Girls of the Internet and EVA approach difficult feelings through a form built for shared enjoyment. It’s a promising premise for a house song: something you can dance to while still having a reason to pay attention to the words.
