"SAILING TOGETHER" takes listeners on an emotional journey. What kind of feelings or soundscapes were you aiming to create with this new track?
My goal with "Sailing Together" was to capture the feeling of hope and shared movement. I wanted to create a soundscape that feels vast and open,like the ocean,but remains intimate… It’s about that unique emotional state where you feel both vulnerable and incredibly strong because you are not alone in the journey.
Your music blends mystical atmospheres with intense energy. How do you balance introspection and movement in your productions, especially in "SAILING TOGETHER"?
I believe electronic music is at its best when it moves both the body and the mind. In Sailing Together, I used warm,wide pads for the introspective,mystical side,and a steady,driving rhythm for the movement. The balance comes from letting the melody breathe; I don’t rush the transitions,allowing the listener to sink into the atmosphere before the energy takes over.
In your live sets, you combine deep melodies with modern EDM energy. How do you see "SAILING TOGETHER" working in a live setting compared to headphone listening?
On headphones,it’s a personal, cinematic experience-a journey inward.In a live setting, it transforms into a collective anthem. The "hook" is designed to create a moment of connection on the dancefloor. It has enough power to keep the energy high in a club,but the melodic depth ensures that the emotional impact isn’t lost in the noise.
Many of your tracks are described as "a journey beyond reality". When composing, do you start with a story in mind, or do you let the emotions guide the musical path?
It’s always the emotion that leads the way.I don’t sit down to write a "story",but rather to translate a specific feeling into sound. As the chords and layers develop,the story starts to tell itself. For me ,music is the most honest way to describe worlds that words can’t reach, guiding the listener to their own personal "beyond".
Looking ahead, which directions do you plan to explore after "SAILING TOGETHER"? Are there new sounds or collaborations you’re already envisioning for future projects?
I’m currently exploring a deeper,more atmospheric side of the electronic spectrum. Building on the energy of my previous track, Bitter Sea-which leans into a more progressive driving dark trance style-my next project, Compass in the dark,continues this journey with a mystical, late-night vibe. I am also very excited to be working on a new Afro House track,aimed to be a true Ibiza summer hit. My goal is a keep pushing the boundaries between melodic trance and sophisticated house music, always keeping that authentic emotional weight at the core the KOWIKAN sound.
