As a DJ and producer in Malta, how has the local music scene influenced your style and artistic growth?
As a DJ and producer in Malta, the local music scene has had a profound impact on my style and artistic growth. Malta’s vibrant and diverse culture, with its rich blend of Mediterranean and international influences, has played a key role in shaping my sound. The local electronic music scene is filled with passionate, talented individuals, which has created a collaborative environment where ideas and styles constantly evolve.
The island’s festivals, intimate venues, and events have allowed me to experiment with different genres, from house to techno, while incorporating elements of traditional Mediterranean music and rhythms. This fusion has become a hallmark of my style. Additionally, the smaller, tight-knit community here encourages constant networking and collaboration with other producers and artists, which helps me grow and develop as an artist.
Moreover, Malta’s proximity to Europe and its status as a popular tourist destination have exposed me to global music trends and influences. This global connection keeps my music fresh and dynamic, while still maintaining a strong local identity. The unique blend of international and local music scenes in Malta has definitely enriched my artistic growth and inspired me to explore new sonic landscapes.
Your compositions reflect personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences. What is your creative process for translating these emotions into music?
My creative process starts with immersing myself in the emotions or experiences I want to convey. I often begin by experimenting with sounds, melodies, or rhythms that resonate with the feeling I'm trying to express.
From there, I layer elements and let the track evolve organically, adjusting as the emotion guides me. It’s about staying in tune with how I feel, letting the music reflect that energy, and refining it until it feels authentic to the experience I’m sharing.
You have a deep connection with emotional expression through melody. How do you balance emotional authenticity with current trends in electronic music?
I balance emotional authenticity with current trends by staying true to the emotions I want to express, while incorporating modern production techniques and sounds that resonate with today’s electronic music scene.
It’s about blending personal feeling with elements that connect to a wider audience, ensuring the music feels both genuine and relevant.
Looking ahead, what are your goals as an artist, and how do you see your music evolving in the coming years?
For the coming years I wish to change my sound slightly to more groove while holding the melody. Let’s see were it takes us.
