Tekzee: "Music has the power to connect and inspire"

Brady Degiorgio, aka Tekzee, is a Maltese DJ and producer with over 20 years in the electronic music scene. Starting under a different alias playing Trance at clubs and festivals alongside top artists, he launched Tekzee in 2020 - a project that delves into the darker, melodic side of his sound, blending deep atmospheres with emotional breakdowns. His music has been released on labels like Bonzai Records, Another Life Music, Droid 9 South America, Droid 9, and Symmetrik Records. Always evolving, Tekzee has much more to share.
In 2020, you launched the Tekzee project, exploring a darker and more melodic side of your music. What inspired you to take this new artistic direction?
When COVID hit and everyone was stuck at home, I had a lot of time to explore different genres. I produced some progressive house and tech house tracks—some were released, while others are still unreleased. Then, Braynod and I started hanging out more, and he was already into Melodic Techno. The more I listened, the more I fell in love with the genre and knew this was the path I wanted to take.
In January 2023, you co-founded the Vestige imprint with Braynod. What are the main goals of this initiative, and how do you think it will impact the electronic music scene in Malta and beyond?
Vestige is more than just a record label. In 2024, we launched Vestige Label Nights, where we showcase artists from our label alongside guest artists. We’re also working on a clothing brand and other projects that are still in the early stages. Over the past months, we’ve released music from several Maltese artists, giving them a platform to reach a global audience and industry leaders. We focus on quality over quantity, making sure each release aligns with our musical vision.
2024 was a breakthrough year for you, with multiple releases, reaching number 2 on Beatport, and receiving support from big names like Tale of Us, Kevin De Vries, and Magdalena. How has this experience influenced your career?
Seeing your work played to a large crowd and getting that kind of reaction is indescribable—it’s like winning money. It’s also rewarding to see the long hours of work pay off. Any support is valuable, but getting recognition from big names helps push your name out there and opens up more opportunities.
With international gigs lined up for 2025 and your debut at Amsterdam Dance Event with Vestige last year, how would you describe the experience? How do you prepare for these gigs, and how do they impact your career?
Performing internationally is a big goal for any DJ. Traveling to different countries shows you how crowds, vibes, and cultures vary. For a DJ gig, preparation is the same as usual - I create an extensive playlist and some backup selections just in case. If it’s an event we’re organizing, there’s much more work involved. International gigs are a huge milestone because they help build your name and expand your audience.
Your career began in the early 2000s as a DJ focused on Trance and Techno, quickly gaining recognition in Malta’s underground scene. How has that early experience shaped your current approach to music production and live performances?
Being in the scene for over a decade has helped me read the crowd better and deliver a proper musical journey in every set. In production, it helped me refine my focus—creating peak-time tracks with heavy kicks, strong basslines, driving drums, and catchy melodies and vocals.
