AlphaTheta has officially launched SLAB, the first-ever MIDI controller created specifically for Serato Studio, the popular music production software that debuted in 2019. SLAB is designed to streamline the creative process for producers and beatmakers, featuring 16 velocity-sensitive RB pads that provide responsive, expressive playability. The controller also includes a large multifunction dial for intuitive browsing and a built-in step sequencer with grid editing, velocity control, swing, and note nudgeessential tools for crafting intricate, dynamic rhythms and grooves.
SLAB seamlessly integrates with Serato Studio and Serato DJ Pro, expanding its versatility for both production and live performance. Powered via USB, the controller also boasts a 13cm touch strip that enables real-time modulation of parameters, giving users precise control over effects and sounds during their sessions.
Yoshinori Kataoka, CEO of AlphaTheta, highlighted the long-standing partnership with Serato, which began in 2011. He noted that SLAB embodies the shared passion for music and innovation that drives both companies, aiming to offer artists powerful tools to unlock their creativity.
The SLAB controller is available now at a retail price of $299 or £259 (excluding VAT), positioning itself as an accessible yet feature-rich option for musicians looking to elevate their production setup.
In addition to SLAB, AlphaTheta recently released a limited-edition yellow OMNIS-DUO in collaboration with artist Elijah, as well as their next-genera-tion flagship media player, the CDJ-3000X. The company also enhanced its ecosystem by introducing Spotify Premium integration with Serato DJ Pro and Serato Du Lite, giving users instant access to a catalog of over 100 million tracks.
With SLAB, AlphaTheta continues to push the boundaries of music techno-logy, providing producers and DJs with innovative tools that inspire creativity and elevate performance.
