In conversation with Rafasan

Atlanta-based DJ and producer Rafasan has carved out a distinctive space in the house music scene with a sound deeply rooted in groove, rhythm and dancefloor energy. Blending deep and minimal influences with rolling basslines and infectious percussion, his approach moves effortlessly between stripped-back textures and driving rhythms, creating a sound that is both refined and infectious.
A Berklee College of Music-trained producer and founder of Flying Lap Records, Rafasan has surpassed 3 million streams, topped genre charts and earned support from some of the most respected names in electronic music. Through his original productions, edits and releases, he continues to build an international following while establishing his label as an extension of his musical vision.
With over 100 performances annually and multiple club residencies, Rafasan brings extensive experience and versatility to every dancefloor. Whether in an intimate club or on a festival stage, his sets navigate between deeper cuts, hypnotic grooves and high-energy moments, reflecting a genuine understanding of house music and its ability to connect people through sound.
With "Back 2 House", Rafasan marks a return to his musical roots, rediscovering house music after a period spent exploring different styles of dance music. The release comes from a personal and artistic need to pause, reflect on his journey and find a more focused sonic direction without spreading his energy across too many influences. It all started with one question: what would a Rafasan house track sound like in 2026?
For this new chapter, the producer draws inspiration from the sounds of minimal deep tech and UK house, two styles that have particularly caught his attention recently. His aim was to experiment with new sounds and textures while maintaining the high-energy approach that has always defined his music. The result is a balance between sonic exploration, infectious grooves and dancefloor appeal.
His musical identity is also going through a period of evolution. While in the past he often built energy through busy arrangements and multiple layers, today Rafasan prefers a more stripped-back approach. Focusing on a few carefully selected elements, he aims to create solid grooves and consistent atmospheres that keep the dancefloor moving without unnecessary distractions. A more minimal approach, but one that remains just as powerful.
The dancefloor continues to be the main reference point in his studio work. With over 100 shows a year, Rafasan has plenty of opportunities to test his productions in front of an audience, observing reactions and making sure each track translates effectively outside the studio. This direct connection between DJ sets and production plays a fundamental role in his creative process, allowing him to constantly refine his sound.
Following "Back 2 House", Rafasan is looking ahead to a busy period filled with new music and collaborations already in the works. He plans to continue exploring a similar sonic direction, introducing unreleased tracks in his sets before sharing them through official releases. A new chapter that reflects his desire to further develop his musical identity while staying true to what matters most: groove, energy and the dancefloor.
