His sound blends multiple techno subgenres, including peak time, melodic, and acid, resulting in high-intensity music that fully captures the listener’s attention. Coming from the underground scenes of Germany and the United States, he has quickly gained global recognition, with support from publications such as Mixmag and DJ Mag, highlighting him as a rising figure in the industry. With a strong lineup of upcoming releases, Kaÿ Wagner continues to evolve as a global creative force, building deep connections with audiences through the power and depth of his music.
Your new track "Life Control", a collaboration with Danny Fontana on Codex Recordings, carries a very intense energy. How did this project come together, and what does the concept of “control” mean to you, both in music and in life?
Danny and I have worked on several collaborations before, so this one felt incredibly natural. The vision and flow were there from the start, and it really came down to trusting our gut. The moment we stopped trying to control the outcome, everything fell into place in the most organic way.
Your style is instantly recognizable for its intensity and originality. How do you approach creating tracks that stay fresh and continue to surprise your listeners?
I’m constantly traveling, absorbing cultures, observing people, and learning from every environment I step into—that’s what fuels me creatively. I’m deeply driven by groove and movement, so if a track makes me dance, I know it has the power to move the crowd as well. Rather than just playing for the dance floor, I aim to create a natural fusion between myself and the audience, guiding us together through a journey.
You started out in the underground scenes of Germany and the USA. Which experiences from those environments have had the biggest impact on your artistic journey?
They’re very different, yet surprisingly similar cultures when it comes to music. I’ve always been inspired by dark warehouse settings and Boiler Room-style rooms washed in vivid red light spaces where the music takes center stage over flashy production. The more I’ve traveled, the more I’ve learned to appreciate every type of party through lived experience, but my heart will always belong to the underground: spaces driven purely by music, connection, and energy.
Beyond being a DJ and producer, you also run a label. How does your perspective on music change when you’re supporting new talent rather than creating your own?
When discovering new talent, I always look beyond surface-level qualities. I want to understand what drives them creatively, what fuels their music, and whether they have the mindset and discipline to grow over time. The music is, of course, essential, but I’m really looking for a project, not just an individual someone with vision, ambition, and a genuine willingness to learn what it takes to reach success.
Being recognized by Mixmag and DJ Mag as an emerging artist brings visibility and expectations. How do you turn that pressure into creative motivation?
Being recognized by such respected magazines for my work has been a real honor. At the same time, that level of attention brings a certain pressure, and honestly, that’s exactly what pushes me to keep creating and evolving. I see pressure as a privilege rather than something negative it’s all about learning how to channel it into growth instead of resisting it.
