microKorg 2: Korg's next chapter in synth evolution
The original microKorg carved its niche as a compact, affordable synthesizer, serving as a gateway for countless musicians into the realm of synthesis. With the microKorg 2, Korg preserves the essence of its predecessor while enhancing it with modern features tailored to today's producers.
A notable enhancement is the addition of a vibrant 2.8-inch color display, providing detailed information about patches and control knob assignments. This intuitive interface allows users to fine-tune settings such as tuning, polyphony, and MIDI I/O conveniently. Moreover, the screen hosts an oscilloscope and dynamic animations, enriching the user experience.
Under the hood, the microKorg 2 employs Virtual Analogue architecture, meticulously crafted to emulate the warmth and character of analog synths. Boasting up to eight voices of polyphony, users can layer sounds across patches for versatile performances. With a vast library of 512 presets spanning various genres, from House/Disco to HipHop/RnB and Ambient/Electronica, creativity knows no bounds.
Enhancing sonic possibilities are three FX categories—reverb, delay, and modulation—alongside a built-in EQ for sculpting sounds with precision. Returning favorites include the iconic gooseneck microphone and built-in vocoder, now accompanied by new additions like pitch-shifting, harmonizing capabilities, and a loop recorder for spontaneous jam sessions.
On the connectivity front, the microKorg 2 offers stereo line out, MIDI I/O, USB-C, aux input, and dual microphone inputs, ensuring seamless integration with a variety of setups.
Scheduled for release in June, the microKorg 2 promises to elevate your music production experience. Stay tuned for pricing details and further updates on the Korg website.
