Police officer injured at Indian Spirit Festival

Eldena, Mecklenburg – The Indian Spirit Festival, one of Germany’s largest psytrance events, was overshadowed by a serious incident over the past weekend. A police officer was violently attacked by a 32-year-old man while driving an ambulance, sustaining injuries severe enough to prevent her from continuing her service.
According to police, the man had already been noticed by festival security staff, reportedly under the influence of drugs and in a state of mental distress. While being transported to the hospital for further treatment, he suddenly assaulted the officer, striking her repeatedly in the head. The officer suffered a concussion, as well as multiple contusions and hematomas. The attacker initially managed to flee but was quickly apprehended and arrested by police.
Approximately 300 police officers were present throughout the festival, which ran from August 27 to September 1, to ensure the safety of attendees. During the event, a total of 98 investigations were opened, including 35 related to drug law violations.
The Indian Spirit Festival in Eldena, located in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, attracts several thousand visitors each year and is considered one of Germany’s major psytrance events. Investigations into the assault and other incidents that occurred during the festival are ongoing.
