Hi Pretty Pink, your remix context of "Drifting" features five talented artists. How did you choose them for this release, and what drew you to their musical styles?
The track "Drifting feat. Jyll" taken from my debut album is a production with a lot of emotional depth and atmosphere, and I wanted remixers who could interpret these qualities while adding their own unique touch.
Each of the five artists brings something distinct to the table—whether it's a special melodic sense, a focus on deep beats, or an innovative approach to production. I chose them because I felt their musical visions aligned with the essence of "Drifting" and would breathe new life into the track in diverse and exciting ways.
Your radio show DEEP WOODS has built a strong following and achieved impressive milestones in a short time. How do you think this has influenced your career and the evolution of your sound, especially with the release of this remix context?
DEEP WOODS has not only helped me build a closer connection with my community but has also enriched my musical journey. Curating the show allows me to constantly discover new music and talent that inspire my sound and push it forward.
This influence is especially evident in the remix context of "Drifting", as it reflects the diverse and evolving sounds that DEEP WOODS represents—melding atmospheric depth with rhythmic energy. The show has become a platform where I can share my love for deep, melodic music and stay connected to the core of my sound.
Your career began with a local residency in Germany, and now you’re playing at international festivals like Tomorrowland and EDC Vegas. How have your live sets and your approach to music changed over the years?
Starting with a local residency allowed me to hone my skills and understand the dynamics of a live audience. As I began playing at larger international stages, my sets evolved to adapt to the energy and scale of these events.
Today, my approach is more about creating a journey that resonates with both intimate crowds and massive festival audiences. I’ve learned to balance spontaneity with a clear narrative in my sets, making each performance a unique experience that can reach listeners on multiple levels.
Your blend of melodic and deep sounds has become your signature. How did you develop this unique combination, and how do you see the future of these genres in electronic music?
The combination of melodic, progressive and deep sounds developed naturally as I explored my own musical influences and experimented with creating atmospheres that could evoke strong emotions. Melodic house and deep sounds allow me to blend rhythm with introspective moments, creating a sound that feels both energizing and immersive.
I believe these genres have a promising future as more listeners are drawn to music that offers a deeper, more personal experience. The demand for emotional connection in electronic music is growing, and I’m excited to see how these styles continue to evolve. But at the end of the day, it’s not about genres—it’s about how music moves us and stirs something within.
In addition to your work as a DJ and producer, you manage two labels, DEEP WOODS and WANDERLUST. What are the challenges of having full control over both, and how do these labels allow you to explore new creative horizons?
Managing DEEP WOODS and WANDERLUST gives me the freedom to shape each label’s unique identity and discover new talents that align with my vision. However, balancing the creative direction with the logistical and business aspects can be challenging, as both labels require a high level of dedication. These platforms allow me to support emerging artists and experiment with sounds that may not fit into my DJ sets but resonate with the deeper, atmospheric vibes I’m passionate about.
DEEP WOODS is not only a label but also a highly successful radio show featured on major stations around the world, including Sirius XM, Sunshine Live, and Kiss FM.
Additionally, we host our own events and daytime festivals under the DEEP WOODS brand, where we bring the label’s musical universe to life for our audience. Through the labels, radio show, and events, I can explore and share a broader spectrum of electronic music, continually pushing creative boundaries.
