Spotify launches video learning: Music performance & production

Spotify users now have access to a wealth of educational content thanks to the platform's latest addition of video learning material. Offering courses in music instrument learning, music performance, and music production, Spotify has teamed up with prominent educational platforms such as the BBC’s Maestro and UK-based PlayVirtuoso.

Accessible directly within the Spotify app, these courses come at a separate fee beyond the subscription price. While three videos are available for free, additional content requires a one-time payment. Initial offerings include tutorials from renowned artists like MJ Cole, Carl Cox, and Sherelle.

According to Babar Zafar, Spotify's VP of product development, educational podcasts and audiobooks already play a significant role in the listening habits of Premium subscribers. Zafar believes that this engaged community will embrace the opportunity to access and purchase quality video content.

In other Spotify news, the 2013 hit "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, and Nile Rodgers recently surpassed one billion streams on the platform. This achievement comes amidst company restructuring efforts, including layoffs of around 1,500 employees announced by CEO Daniel Ek in December.
