Braynod: "The best music happens when creativity flows effortlessly"

Braynod began his career in 2019 as a DJ, quickly gaining recognition after a performance at The Playground in Malta. In 2020, he shifted to music production and released "Lost Distance" on Droid 9 South America. By 2021, his tracks gained support from major artists like John Digweed and Solomun, charting on Beatport. From 2022, his international career took off - he became a Yakuza resident DJ and launched his own labels: Vestige, Do Not Disturb, and Hypergroove. Today, he is recognized as a rising star in the global electronic scene.

Your track "Unseen", created in collaboration with Tekzee and released in May 2024, has received great recognition. Can you tell us about the creative process behind this track and how your collaboration with Tekzee came about?

It all started when we came across that vocal, and it was like everything just clicked. Our minds seemed to sync up instantly, and we began to experiment with different sounds, playing off each other's ideas. It felt like we were in the zone, and the right elements naturally came together to form the track. There was a great chemistry between us, and the creative process flowed effortlessly from there. It’s moments like that that remind me how powerful collaboration can be -when the right people come together, magic happens.

You founded three labels: Vestige, Do Not Disturb, and Hypergroove. What are the main goals of each, and how do they differ from one another?

We’re currently rebranding our record label, and the main goal is to evolve by expanding our presence globally. We're focusing on showcasing the label in different countries to bring our unique sound and vision to new audiences. As for our event, Do Not Disturb, we created it as a fresh concept. It’s been such an amazing experience, and the concept is all about blending art with music. It offers a different kind of party vibe, with a strong emphasis on creativity and a unique atmosphere, setting it apart from the typical event. On the other hand, Hypergroove is another event that has a more relaxed, summer vibe, with a focus on Afrohouse music. It’s designed to capture that carefree, sunny party energy that people really connect with.

Your music has gained support from major artists like John Digweed and Solomun. How has this recognition from such influential figures impacted your career?

It’s really had a positive impact on my career in so many ways. It opened doors to working with incredible record labels, led to exciting collaborations, and expanded my reach internationally. The opportunities I’ve had to connect with artists and fans across the globe have been truly transformative for both my personal growth and my music.

You are a resident DJ at Yakuza and have launched your own labels. How do you balance your time between live performances and managing record labels?

It's all about time management. How you manage your time and plan things ahead is really important. Being organized and staying on top of tasks allows me to balance my creative work with the other responsibilities that come with the music industry. Planning ahead helps me stay focused and ensures that everything runs smoothly, even when things get hectic.

Looking ahead, what are your upcoming projects or collaborations that your fans can look forward to?

I have 8-10 tracks set to be released this year, including some exciting collaborations with Mila Journee, Senses of Mind, Abstraal, and Skuro. I’m really looking forward to sharing these with my audience. We’ll also be expanding Do Not Disturb, hosting more events in intimate and cool locations that offer a unique experience. On top of that, we’ll be traveling more with Vestige Records and launching something really exciting in the coming days—stay tuned!
