CamelPhat charity gig to save Zoe’s Place Hospice

Electronic music duo CamelPhat, made up of Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala, are set to perform a special charity concert in Liverpool to raise funds for Zoe’s Place, a children’s hospice facing closure by the end of the year. The event will take place at the Invisible Wind Factory on November 1, with all proceeds going towards helping the hospice find a new location and avoid shutting down.

Established in 1995, Zoe’s Place offers crucial respite, palliative, and end-of-life care for babies and children up to the age of five. However, the hospice is at risk of closing as its lease is ending, and the charity has reported that there is "insufficient time and money to relocate to a new home". In response, a fundraising campaign has been launched, aiming to raise £5 million by November 9 to secure a new home for the hospice in Liverpool.

The funds will be used to either purchase, build, or renovate a suitable facility for continuing the hospice’s essential services. The campaign has already raised over £2 million, with support from high-profile donors, including football legends Steven Gerrard and Peter Reid, MP Ian Byrne, and singer Peter Hooton.

On November 1, CamelPhat will perform alongside fellow Liverpool DJ Yousef, who is known for running the successful Circus house and techno event. For CamelPhat, who have a busy schedule playing at global venues from Ibiza to Medellin, this charity gig is a rare opportunity to perform in their hometown while supporting a meaningful local cause.

Since forming in 2006 after meeting at Liverpool’s 3 Beat Records store, CamelPhat quickly rose to prominence in the electronic music scene. Their 2017 track "Cola", produced with Elderbrook, became an international hit and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. Beyond their musical success, the duo also purchased and still own the popular Liverpool nightclub Mansion, which they bought in 2011.

CamelPhat’s involvement in this charity concert showcases how successful artists can use their platform to support important causes. With the help of other local talents like Yousef, the event aims to generate vital funds needed to secure the future of Zoe’s Place.

Liverpool’s community is rallying around the cause, with the goal of keeping the hospice open to continue providing essential care for vulnerable children. The charity concert on November 1 could be a pivotal moment in helping Zoe’s Place overcome its current challenges and continue offering hope to many families in need.

In this critical moment, every act of solidarity counts, and the upcoming concert could play a key role in preserving this vital service for children and their families.
