Hailing from the Netherlands, Dion Mons, known as Devin Wild, is a leading figure in the hardstyle scene. As a Scantraxx Recordz artist, he is recognized for his powerful melodic sound that balances intense energy with engaging atmospheres. Passionate from a young age, he began producing at just nine years old, crafting a distinctive and unique sonic identity. His 2015 debut single "Into The Night" received immediate acclaim, followed by numerous hits and official anthems for major festivals like "Children Of The Sun" (Dreamfields 2016) and "Our Tribe" (WiSH Outdoor 2018). His collaborations with Sub Zero Project, notably "Meltdown" and "DSTNY", further solidified his international reputation. Beyond production, Devin Wild is renowned for his dynamic live performances, having played at top global festivals such as Defqon.1, Emporium, WiSH Outdoor, Dreamfields, Decibel Outdoor, Intents Festival, and Q-BASE, establishing himself as a prominent and influential figure in the global hardstyle community.
"Among The Noise" has been described as a project that blurs the lines between Hardstyle and Hard Techno. How did you work on balancing these two very different genres in your sound?
I try to implement all kinds of genres and influences of the music I like through all my songs, not only with the EPs in particular, but with the EPs I feel I can point it out a little more. I love to stay as creative as possible. That's what I love about making music, so that part is really important to me. Since the moment I started doing these more experimental EPs, underground rave music has been a huge influence because this kind of stuff always brings me into a flow where I can think outside my comfort zone even more.
How did the collaboration with Nathalie Blue for the track "Chaos (Always Comes)" come about, and what did she bring to your sound? "Silent (Left The System)" adds an industrial and fierce touch to the EP. What were your main inspirations for this track, and how does it fit into the overall concept of the EP?
Well, since I plan these EPs as a yearly thing, the Never Not Done EP with Phuture Noize last year came in between. So nothing juicy about it. I think I might have started with Chaos in the first half of 2025. I haven't worked on any EP songs since then. I think I continued working on the project a few months later when finishing the first test version of Dance With Madness just before Defqon. Hit Back and Silent came around August because I wanted to test them on the USA and Australia tour. So it basically took me a whole year but with some time in between.
The artworks are based on the environments of the visualizers. For each track I had a feeling in mind for example Hit Back. This track has a more industrial, underground sound so I wanted an environment that resonated with that. Dark empty subway stations, hallways etc. Same goes for Dance With Madness. An abandoned funfair. Usually a place of chaos and fun. But seeing it like this gives me that cold, ominous feeling.
The EP is structured like a sonic journey, with cinematic intro and outro pieces creating a unique atmosphere. How important is storytelling through music to you, and how did you develop this narrative?
Well, to me working on a project like this is more like telling a complete story. Creating an atmosphere and trying to connect every dot through this story to make it as cohesive as possible.
