Helena Hauff redefines techno with "Multiply Your Absurdities"
Helena Hauff makes her long-awaited return with her first EP in over two years, "Multiply Your Absurdities", set to be released on November 15 via Tresor Records.
This highly anticipated project, available both on vinyl and digital platforms, marks a new creative chapter for the German artist, known for her distinctive approach to electronic music. It follows her acclaimed 2022 release, "Living With Ladybirds", on Fabric Originals, and is expected to further cement her status as a key figure in the international techno scene.
The first track from the EP, "Humanoid Fruit", has already been released, accompanied by a video directed by Bahar Noorizadeh. The video delves into the complex relationship between art and capitalism, blending cyberpunk aesthetics with socio-political commentary.
"Humanoid Fruit" originally debuted as part of the soundtrack for Noorizadeh's multimedia art piece and "musical racing game", "Teslaism". In this game, Elon Musk and his self-driving car/life coach navigate a post-gamified Berlin landscape in a satirical nod to the city's iconic club culture.
The track’s dark, experimental sound complements the dystopian visuals, creating a striking synergy between the music and the artwork, which was showcased during Tresor’s 31st anniversary celebrations.
In addition to "Humanoid Fruit", the EP features two more tracks: the opener, "Multiplying My Absurdities" and "Punks In The Gym", a track whose title is inspired by a famous rock climbing route in Australia. These titles hint at the playful irony and sonic experimentation that run throughout the EP.
Helena Hauff continues to push the boundaries of the genre, fusing acid and industrial sounds with raw, experimental textures, solidifying her reputation as one of the most intriguing figures in contemporary electronic music. With "Multiply Your Absurdities", she promises to deliver a radical new vision of techno, making this EP a must-listen for fans of the genre.
"Multiply Your Absurdities" is out on Tresor Records on November 15.
