Josh Wink returns with the second chapter of his Found Sounds series, a project dedicated to uncovering rare and long-lost recordings from his archives. This time, he shares a 1998 live set recorded at the "Nike Pavilion" in Atlanta, now available exclusively on Apple Music.
The mix captures a pivotal moment in U.S. rave history: a high-energy night where Wink pushed vinyl deep into the morning hours for a packed and ecstatic crowd. "It’s a bit unclear which party this was from", Wink recalls." But I remember it being a sweaty, packed night during the good old rave days. You can literally hear the crowd cheering and screaming through the turntable’s needle at certain moments in the recording"
Entirely recorded on vinyl, the set weaves together house, acid, minimal, and techno, with Wink digging through white labels and pressings so obscure that even he can’t identify some of them today." Maybe this will encourage listeners to join the ID game and help uncover the mysteries hidden in the mix", he adds.
The Found Sounds series launched earlier this year with the release of a 1998 recording from New York’s iconic Twilo. The project serves as a sonic time capsule, tracing over three decades of Wink’s career and celebrating the energy, spontaneity, and genre-blurring spirit that shaped his early sound.
With timeless records like Don’t Laugh, I’m "Ready", and "Higher State of Consciousness still" echoing through dance culture, Josh Wink continues to affirm his lasting influence on the global electronic scene.
