"Setting Sun" blends jazz and house elements in a very organic way. What was the main inspiration behind this track, and how did you balance these two sonic worlds?
All of my music tends to be on the chill, jazzy, and soulful side. I’ve recently gotten more into creating house music—especially over the past couple of years. I love how house can really get your head and body moving while still allowing you to build a melodic and soulful storyline. That contrast is what I love about blending these elements together.
Your sound has caught the attention of influential artists and platforms, such as Jazzanova on Apple Music and DJ Mag. How are you experiencing this growing exposure, and what opportunities has it already brought you?
Over the past decade, I’ve been supported by some of my heroes. Early on in my career, this was crucial in motivating me to keep growing as an artist. These days, co-signs are nice, but they’re not as important. What truly matters is getting my music to as many ears as possible. The best opportunity for me is having a platform and a growing fanbase that continues to listen to my music. I want others to experience the same enjoyment and happiness that I get from it—to spread that feeling around the world.
After the success of "Find My Way", which was a true groovy anthem, what did you want to explore differently with "Setting Sun"? Do you think it represents an evolution in your artistic journey?
When I make music, it often reflects the experiences I’m going through in life. "Find My Way" was created during a tumultuous time when I was dealing with ups and downs. That track helped me navigate those moments while also expressing how I felt. "Setting Sun", on the other hand, represents reaching the other side of that journey. I came out of it alive and well. It’s a song about beauty, hope, and finally being able to relax.
Yo've been active in the electronic scene for over a decade. How do you see the future of house music, and how do you think your style fits into the evolution of the genre?
I don’t like to overthink the direction of the genres I make. I try not to let labels, trends, or industry expectations box me in. I’ve never aimed to create something "mainstream" or "commercial". I’m perfectly fine staying underground. I believe underground artists will always thrive and flourish because they create music for the right reasons—for the love of it.
You work with labels like Electronic Brew Records, which value refined and authentic sounds. How important is it for you to find a team and a label that truly understands your artistic vision?
Electronic Brew Records started out as a blog with the mission of discovering and spotlighting underground and unheard artists. Eventually, they transitioned into releasing music, aiming to put their own stamp on electronic music. That vision alone was enough for me to decide I wanted to release with them and be part of their journey. Working with people who have genuine intentions and a deep love for the art and the music means everything to me.
