REDOT: "The music leads us, not the other way around"

REDOT, composed of Kfir Lankry and Elior Sabbah, is an electronic music duo known for their innovative sound and pulsating rhythms. With 20 years of experience, they blend cutting-edge technology, emotional melodies, and aggressive sound design to create tracks that captivate both the dance floor and listeners alike. Their artistic synergy and deep expertise result in sophisticated and original productions, ranging from high-energy beats to ambient soundscapes, always pushing the boundaries of electronic music.
Your new EP "Unhuman" marks an important milestone in your musical journey. How would you describe the sound of this EP compared to your previous work?
"Unhuman" represents a significant step forward for us. Compared to our previous release, this EP pushes the boundaries of our sound, blending deep melodic elements with raw, aggressive energy. We set out to create a cinematic yet powerful experience—where haunting synths, driving basslines, and intricate rhythms collide.
Coming from a psytrance background, we’ve explored various genres over the years, but REDOT is our purest expression of melodic techno, and "Unhuman" embodies that vision more than ever.
As a duo, Kfir and Elior, each of you brings a unique experience. How do you balance production and composition of tracks together? Is there a particular creative process you follow?
Our creative process is very dynamic and natural. Since we've been making music together and separately for years, we’ve developed a deep understanding of how to complement each other’s ideas. When we start a track, it can begin with a melody, a bassline, or even just an idea for a certain atmosphere. From there, we experiment, refine, and push each other creatively until we find the perfect balance between emotion and energy.
We don’t follow strict rules—some tracks come together quickly, while others take more time to evolve. The key for us is trust and creative freedom, allowing the music to lead us rather than forcing a structure on it.
"Unhuman" was released on Errorr Records, a label that seems to be an ideal platform for your sound. How did the collaboration with them come about, and what does it mean for you to be a part of this label family?
Releasing "Unhuman" on Errorr Records felt like a natural and meaningful step for us. The label is managed by our longtime friends, "Ruback" , who, like us, come from the psytrance world. We first met at events where we played together in Brasil, and over the years, we built a strong friendship and mutual respect for each other’s musical journeys.
When we started REDOT, it was clear that our vision aligned with what Errorr Records represents—pushing boundaries, blending intensity with emotion, and delivering powerful music. Joining the label feels like coming full circle, collaborating with friends who truly understand where we come from and where we’re heading. It’s more than just a label—it’s a family, and we’re excited to be part of it.
The EP plays with emotional melodies and aggressive sounds. What emotions or concepts did you want to explore with this release, and how did you choose to translate them into sound and rhythm?
With "Unhuman", we wanted to explore the contrast between vulnerability and power. We’re drawn to emotional melodies that evoke introspection and depth, but we also wanted to bring in the intensity and aggression that drives our sound. The EP reflects a journey—one where you confront and embrace the darker, more raw aspects of yourself.
In terms of translating those emotions into sound, it was about finding the right balance between melodic progressions and driving, aggressive rhythms. We used tension in the melodies to create that emotional pull, and then paired it with hard-hitting beats and basslines to inject energy and power. The result is a layered soundscape that captures both the struggle and the release of energy, much like the human experience itself.
With over 20 years of experience in the music industry, how do you view the evolution of the electronic music scene, and what challenges do you face now in creating innovative music? What does the future hold for REDOT?
Over the last two decades, we've seen the electronic music scene evolve in so many ways—from the rise of new genres to the digital revolution changing how we produce and share music. The genre boundaries have blurred, and there's been a massive shift in how audiences consume music, with streaming platforms and live events becoming more integral. The scene has become more global than ever, and the innovation coming from different corners of the world is inspiring.
At the same time, the challenge now is maintaining authenticity while pushing the boundaries of sound. With so many producers and new music being released every day, it’s easy to feel the pressure to stay ahead of the curve. For us, the key is to stay true to our unique style while constantly experimenting with new sounds and pushing our creative limits.
As for the future of REDOT, we are excited to continue developing our live performances and pushing the boundaries of our music. We’re working on new tracks, refining our sound, and exploring opportunities to connect with audiences in different ways—whether that’s through innovative live experiences, collaborations, or further releases. We’re committed to growing with the scene and seeing where this journey takes us!
